"This is my sister!"

To the only person reading (my mom)

I just finished my first week as a nanny for Alex and Kenzie. I can already tell it's going to be a fun summer. At five, Alex does not like to get out of bed in the morning, but he also says some of the funniest things. We eat lunch at the high school after they finish summer school, and he LOVES ranch dressing. One day, he even ate his PB&J with ranch... when I pointed out that ranch on PB&J is pretty strange, he replied with a grin, "It's sour!" Whatever that means. Here is Alex eating carrots at lunch, and yes, his apple does have ranch on it.

Another time, one of the lunch workers pointed out that Alex and Kenzie don't look much alike, considering they are siblings. Without missing a beat, Alex exclaimed, "It's because she's older!" Alex also loves superheroes, especially the Avengers. Sometimes we play Avengers together, and he always wants to be Iron Man, except when he's in trouble, then he wants to be the Hulk.

Kenzie is your typical 8 year old girl... she loves pink and dancing, and she is super sassy in the best way. She calls me 'Shel-Bell' and tries to pretend that I'm her sister, not her nanny. Kenzie loves to sing, especially to Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield in my car on the way to school. She also has a tiny garden where she holds concerts for the "Plant Band"--that is, she uses a stick and "conducts" the plants in an orchestra that she is secretly humming. Kenzie and I also put on daily dance recitals... usually a mixture of ballet and swing dancing. On Friday, Kenz had her best friend Marrin over for a sleep over, and the three of us put on a recital called "The Satin Princess." Here are the girls in their costumes, Marrin the Rainbow Princess on the left, Kenzie the Satin Princess on the right.

Later that afternoon, we went to the park, and Alex worked on the monkey bars... one time he made it all the way to the third! A big accomplishment. The girls then stumbled upon a guy slack lining and conned him into letting them try it... of course! They loved it!
